Privacy Policy
ValueQuest helps families build good work and money habits. A parent or guardian creates and controls the family account; children participate under that parent’s control. We are committed to protecting children’s privacy and complying with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

1. Who this covers
Information about parents/guardians who hold accounts and the children they add. Children do not create their own accounts.
2. Information we collect
From the parent: email and password (stored only as a secure hash); if you subscribe, a Stripe customer/subscription reference and status (we do not store your full card number); and content you create (tasks, quests, reading, rewards, notes).
About children (all provided or controlled by the parent): a display name (a first name or nickname), an age band, in-app activity (completed tasks, XP, levels, streaks, badges, character customizations), and optional proof photos a child submits, which a parent reviews and which are automatically deleted on a retention schedule.
We do NOT collect from children: email, phone number, home address, precise geolocation, real financial/payment information, or identifiers used for behavioral advertising. All money in ValueQuest is simulated / family-tracked only.
3. How we use information
To provide the Service; to send parents transactional emails (sign-up, password reset, notifications, optional weekly digest); to offer optional AI suggestions (we send our AI provider only an age band — never a child’s personal information); and to process the parent’s subscription and prevent abuse.
4. What we do not do
We do not sell or rent personal information, show children third-party advertising, use children’s data for behavioral advertising, or use third-party analytics that track children across services.
5. Parental consent
Because a parent creates the account and provides all child information, we obtain the parent’s consent at sign-up through direct notice and an affirmative agreement, and — for subscribing families — through the parent’s payment transaction. 6. Service providers
We share information only with vendors that process data on our behalf to run the Service, under confidentiality obligations: Supabase (database, authentication, storage, functions), Vercel (hosting), Postmark (transactional email to parents), Stripe (subscription payments — parent billing), and Anthropic (optional AI suggestions — no child personal information sent). We may disclose information if required by law or to protect safety, and in a business transfer with notice as required.
7. Parents’ rights
At any time a parent may review/export their child’s information, delete it (delete photos, delete a child profile, or close the account), and refuse further collectionby revoking a child’s device access. Use the in-app controls or contact [privacy@valuequest.app].
8. Retention & security
We keep information only as long as needed. Proof photos are deleted automatically on a retention schedule; account and activity data are deleted on account closure [plus a stated grace period]. We protect data with family-level access isolation, private storage with short-lived links, HTTPS, and server-side handling of secrets.
9. Children’s privacy (COPPA)
The Service is for family use including children under 13, under parental control. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child except as provided or authorized by the child’s parent. A parent who believes we hold information they did not authorize may contact us to review or delete it.
